UAJK Achievements Lauded by Sardar Masood Khan

Former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Chancellor of state-based universities, Sardar Masood Khan, has underscored the untapped potential of AJK’s youth, calling for enhanced educational opportunities and a supportive learning environment to enable their academic and societal contributions.

Speaking at the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK) during an interaction with senior faculty at the state-of-the-art King Abdullah Campus (KAC) in Chatter Kallas, Sardar Masood Khan commended the strides made by AJK’s universities despite various challenges.

“Universities in AJK are striving for academic excellence, and their consistent progress is a testament to their resilience and dedication,” he stated.

Sardar Masood Khan lauded UAJK for its significant accomplishments, highlighting its recognition in the Times Higher Education Rankings and its growing reputation in the national academic landscape. “UAJK has demonstrated remarkable performance in delivering quality education and contributing to research, making it a cornerstone of AJK’s academic development,” he said.

He also congratulated Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi and the university’s faculty for their infrastructural advancements and their efforts to enhance the socioeconomic conditions of the region.

The former President assured his full support for public-sector universities in AJK, acknowledging the financial and operational challenges they face. He emphasized the importance of the recently completed King Abdullah Campus, calling it a “generous gift from Saudi Arabia” and a symbol of strong bilateral ties between the two nations.

During the interactive session, faculty members raised various questions, to which Sardar Masood Khan provided thoughtful responses, further emphasizing his commitment to addressing the concerns of higher education institutions in AJK.

In his welcome address, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi thanked the former President for his longstanding support. “Sardar Masood Khan has consistently provided guidance and encouragement to the academic institutions of AJK,” he noted. Dr Abbasi highlighted the university’s achievements, including academic collaborations, advancements in research, and strategic future plans. He also expressed gratitude for the financial backing provided by the state government, which has helped address budgetary constraints.

Following the discussion, Sardar Masood Khan toured the newly established laboratories at the King Abdullah Campus. Funded by the Saudi Fund for Development, these laboratories are equipped with cutting-edge technology to foster research and innovation. Praising the facilities, the former President described them as a significant asset for advancing academic and research excellence in the region.

This visit and interaction underscore the pivotal role of quality education in empowering the youth of AJK, with Sardar Masood Khan reaffirming his dedication to supporting the region’s educational institutions.
