The meeting, attended by deans, the registrar, and heads of academic and administrative departments, featured approvals for a variety of Bachelor’s programs. These include applied computing, information technology, gaming and animation, and information systems technology, in addition to an associate degree in information technology and computer engineering. These additions come as part of recommendations from the Computer Science Department’s Board of Studies.

In further expansion, the Mining Engineering Department saw the green light for MSc and PhD programs in mineral processing, developed in response to proposals from the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Engineering. UET’s New Campus will also see the launch of a Bachelor’s program in biomedical sciences and an associate degree in applied computing, broadening options for students interested in health and technology fields.

The Faculty of Chemical, Metallurgical, and Polymer Engineering introduced a new MSc in process plant management, with a distance-learning option in Safety, Health, and Process Plant Management available at the New Campus. Additionally, a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design was approved, based on recommendations from the Faculty of Architecture and Planning, marking UET’s commitment to fostering creative and design-oriented professions.

Vice Chancellor Dr Munir noted that these program expansions aim to produce graduates equipped to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving job market, particularly in technology, engineering, and design. “UET is committed to bridging the gap between academia and industry, ensuring our students are well-prepared to contribute to diverse and emerging sectors,” Prof Munir stated.

This meeting underscores UET’s dedication to innovation in education, providing students with a comprehensive set of options tailored to meet the needs of Pakistan’s industrial and technological landscapes.
