UET holds awareness seminar on Pink Ribbon Day

Zimal Society of University of Engineering and Technology (UET) organized an awareness seminar on breast cancer. The Dramatics Society performed a theater outlining the feelings, problems, and relief of women with breast cancer.

The seminar was attended by Prof. Dr. Rehana Sharif, Staff Advisor of Zimal Society, Prof. Dr. Shamaila Shehzadi, Prof. Dr. Neelam Naz, Prof. Dr. Farhat Yasmeen, female faculty and large number of female students.

Speaking at the seminar, Dr. Sarah said, “The incidence of breast cancer in Pakistan has risen alarmingly, with one in nine women in the country suffering from this fatal disease. Every year, 45,000 women die of breast cancer. Timely diagnosis can save 99% of lives.” She also expressed concern over the rising number of breast cancer cases across the country. She said that the number of breast cancer cases in women is increasing due to lack of awareness and timely diagnosis. Every woman should have her breasts checked every three months, while women over the age of 45 need a mammography once a year.

These views were expressed by the experts while addressing an awareness seminar on breast cancer organized by the Zimal Society of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore. Speaking at the seminar,
