University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Schlumberger Seaco INC. (Pakistan Branch) and Dowell Schlumberger (Western) for student placements, professional skills development courses and health, safety, and environmental awareness campaigns.

Schlumberger will facilitate the students of UET in enhancing their professional skills with industrial placements and workshops. Both parties will make efforts to minimize the industry-academia gap by enhancing industrial trainings, market/industry needs analysis and ensuring effective communication.

Awareness sessions for health, safety and environment will be conducted at the university for students, professional and general public. Schlumberger will be facilitating UET students by holding technical presentations at the university, donating software for student practices, and graduate and summer internships. Where possible, UET students and faculty will also work on some of the R&D problems at Schlumberger.

Prof. Dr. Syed Mansoor Sarwar, Vice Chancellor, UET and Mr. Zaurayze Tarique, Managing Director Schlumberger, Pakistan & Yemen signed the document on behalf of respective organization. Speaking on the occasion, both dignitaries agreed that there is a strong need of Industry-Acadmia linkage and professional skills development for progression of in this techno-economic era. Prof. Dr. Naveed, Ramzan, Prof. Dr. Zubair Abu Bakar, Prof. Dr. Khurram Zahoor and Prof. Dr. Saima Yasin, Dr. Muhammad Shafiq and Mr. Shahzad were present in the ceremony. Prof. Saima praised the Schlumberger for supporting Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) from developing countries through its non-profit organization.
