Lahore: The 1st International Workshop on Research in DESIGN was organized at the department of Product and Industrial Design (PID), University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore.

The organizer of the workshop delivered a lecture focusing on ‘how to conduct research, effectively, as an Industrial designer?’. The intended aim was to highlight modern trends and approaches (as practiced internationally) to the design students, professionals, design researchers, and faculty members. Dr. George Edward Torrens (from SDCA, Loughborough University, UK), as a chief guest, attended the workshop and delivered a lecture on “Significance of research for practicing designers and design students”.

More than 40 participants and faculty members actively participated in the workshop. Towards the end of the workshop, a brief overview of ‘Mendeley’ was provided that will enable participants to manage their researched data and resources. As a gesture of thanks, a digital version of “Research for Designers” by Gjoko Muratovski was gifted by the organizer of the workshop to all participants. With an intention of bringing more international exposure to the Department of PID, by inviting experienced designers from the world-ranked universities, the day ended with a thanking note to all participants.
