UK Delegation Visits UVAS Lahore

A two-member UK delegation comprising Laura Skippen and Amy Barstow along with Brooke Pakistan officials visited the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore on Monday and held a meeting with Vice-Chancellor Emeritus Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad and senior faculty members.

Brooke is an international charity that protects and improves the lives of horses, donkeys and mules, which gives people in the developing world the opportunity to work their way out of poverty.

The meeting discussed various suggestions for making future plans between Brook and UVAS in the light of their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to uplift the veterinary profession. Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor called for developing a calendar of activities and publishing the same on the university website for the awareness of the farming community.

Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani emphasized on certified online training for practitioners keeping in view one health one welfare approach.  She said UVAS always welcomes Brooke to strengthen this partnership.

Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Masood Rabbani invited Brooke to participate in the national curriculum development of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) scheduled on Feb 13, 2020.

With a marvelous history of 137 years of excellence, the UVAS is now positioned among top ten Universities of Pakistan. Originally established as a school in 1882, it was later transformed into a college within the next two decades. Realizing the importance of livestock and poultry sectors in the economy of the county and growing need of human resource and research work in veterinary & animal sciences and allied fields in the country, this historic institution was upgraded as university in 2002. Presently, UVAS comprises of 23 departments in five faculties, four institutes, two constituent colleges along with seven affiliated institutes.
