The University of Management and Technology (UMT) is set to organize the 2nd annual start-up competition at its Sialkot campus this month, which might just be the platform what young entrepreneurs like you are looking for. Named the BizPlan Challenge: Think. Pitch. Grow, the mega competition is a follow up to the inaugural BizPlan Challenge held in 2017.
The event is scheduled to be held over two days, on April 13 and 14 at UMT’s Sialkot campus. The first business idea event attracted more than 40 teams from universities across Pakistan at the first such student-centric entrepreneurial event in Sialkot.
The BizPlan Challenge envisions building and maximizing human resource capabilities and encouraging start-ups working for wider social impact. Through this competition, the organisers not only aim to build linkages between industry and the academia, but also expose students to the novel arts of pitching new ideas and making them work in competitive environments.
Besides the competition, UMT has gone a step further to nurture the talent of students by including various activities that will help participants hone their skills.
These include:
- Two workshops for participants to mature their business plans.
- Seminar on understanding current challenges to enhance global trade and business for Pakistan.
- BizPlan annual dinner along with concluding ceremony.
Registration fee for the event is Rs 3,000 and covers the following charges: traveling, accommodation, and Bizplan annual dinner (T&C apply). The winner of business idea challenge will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 100,000, while the runner-up and second runner up will receive Rs 50,000 and Rs 30,000, respectively.
