The University of Management and Technology (UMT) made significant strides in promoting scientific advancement by successfully organizing the 8th International Conference on Mathematics and the 2nd International Conference on Physics. Held under the auspices of UMT’s School of Science, the dual event aimed to foster global collaboration in scientific research and innovation.
The conferences attracted a diverse group of distinguished scholars and experts from across the globe. Notable attendees included Dr Muhammad Ali, Vice Chancellor of Punjab University, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest, as well as Dr Asghar Zaidi (Provost, UMT), Dr Sammia Shahid (Dean, School of Science), Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar (Vice Chancellor of Qarshi University), and Dr Reza Abdolmaleki from Iran.
Participants from countries such as China, the UK, Indonesia, Japan, Portugal, and the UAE contributed to the scholarly atmosphere, with over 135 research papers presented during the conferences. Topics spanned a wide array of contemporary issues in Mathematics and Physics, underscoring the event’s academic depth.
In her welcome address, Dr Sammia Shahid emphasized the vital role such conferences play in creating avenues for international research partnerships. She highlighted the importance of academic-industrial linkages and reiterated UMT’s commitment to advancing research-driven higher education to build a prosperous future for Pakistan.
Chief Guest Dr Muhammad Ali commended UMT’s initiative, noting that Mathematics and Physics are fundamental pillars of scientific progress. He stressed that in today’s rapidly evolving world, promoting research is not only vital for technological growth but also for the country’s economic stability. He called on the younger generation to embrace scientific research as a tool to overcome national challenges.
The event concluded with a ceremonial presentation of a souvenir to Dr Muhammad Ali by Dr Sammia Shahid and Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar, marking the successful end to a landmark academic gathering.
