UMT Ranked #1 Private Sector University in Pakistan by THE Rankings

The University of Management and Technology (UMT) has achieved a significant milestone by being ranked as the No. 1 private university in Pakistan in the Times Higher Education (THE) Interdisciplinary Research Science Rankings 2025. Globally, UMT has secured a spot in the 201–250 bracket, a testament to its unwavering commitment to academic and research excellence.

THE Interdisciplinary Research Science Ranking 2025, introduced for the first time, evaluates universities on various aspects of interdisciplinary research in science, resources, and achievements. Among 30 participating universities from Pakistan, UMT stood out for its excellence, solidifying its position as a leader in higher education.

President UMT, Ibrahim Hassan Murad, celebrated this remarkable achievement by congratulating the faculty, staff, students, and the entire UMT community. He emphasized that this success reflects UMT’s dedication to fostering world-class research, innovation, and academic quality. “The day is not far when UMT will be counted among the world’s top universities,” Murad stated.

He further highlighted that this accomplishment showcases UMT’s role as a pioneer in elevating Pakistan’s education system and its global competitiveness. “This remarkable achievement of UMT serves as a shining example of the potential of Pakistani universities to compete on the global stage,” Murad added.

The Times Higher Education Rankings 2025 utilizes 11 key performance indicators to assess institutions. These include funding and research resources, infrastructure, administrative support, success measures, research promotion, and the number of publications. The rankings aim to spotlight universities excelling in interdisciplinary research—a crucial factor in addressing contemporary global challenges.

This recognition further cements UMT’s reputation as a top-tier institution, setting new benchmarks for private universities in Pakistan and contributing to the advancement of higher education in the country.
