UMT ranks no 1 in Pakistan by Times Higher Education ranking

University of Management and Technology (UMT) has been ranked as No 1 private university in Pakistan in a ranking issued by Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings for 2023.

As per report 29 Pakistani universities were able to make into the top 1000 universities in the world. However, among the private sector, UMT was ranked at number 501 by THE which is highest by any private university of Pakistan. UMT was ranked second among private and public sector universities as only Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) is ahead of UMT.

Quaid-i-Azam University is on the top of the list of Pakistani universities, followed by Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF)  and UMT at number 501.

24 Pakistani universities were ranked as Reporter by THE which submitted the required data for evaluation but did not meet the eligibility criteria for a place in the 2023 list. The 2023 World University Rankings marks the seventh year in a row that the University of Oxford has topped the world university rankings.

Following the rankings, President UMT Ibrahim Hassan Murad tweeted the success of the university and said, “Allah has been most kind. We have attained the top position among all private sector universities in Pakistan in the 2023 Times Higher Education World University Rankings. In the last 4 years, we have grown exponentially, specially in terms of research, eminence and our overall positioning. I want to give full credit to our students, alumni, faculty and staff. May they continue to outshine!”
