Unauthorized Campuses: Varsity Students Allowed to Complete Degrees

LinkedIn

The Higher Education Department (HED) Government of Punjab declared 23 sub-campuses of seven private sector universities unauthorized. These campuses had been operating without Punjab Governor’s approval.  Legal action would be taken against these universities by The Higher Education Department.

The Higher Education Department had already made arrangements to ensure that the students currently studying in these unauthorized sub-campuses would complete their degrees. Therefore, the students currently studying in these unauthorized sub-campuses should focus on their education without any fear of the completion of their respective degrees. However, HED clarified that unauthorized sub-campuses of private universities had been stopped from taking further admissions.

The meeting of the accreditation committee of the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) has been called to resolve the matter of illegal sub-campuses of private universities in the province, said Punjab Higher Education Department Secretary in a press statement.

He said that notices had been issued to universities which were operating the sub-campuses illegally. He clarified that only new admission to these campuses were stopped, however, this would not have any effect on students studying in these campuses. The Secretary added that already enrolled students had nothing to worry about and they should not worry about any rumors as they were fully protected.
