Federal Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Syed Shafqat Mahmood has said that the incumbent government will gradually implement a uniform education system in the country, so people belonging to different socio-economic backgrounds can equally benefit from the resources and can live a better life.

The Minister, while addressing a ceremony held at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) on Thursday, said that the government was working on the policy of setting up a society that can embody the true ideals of justice and social equity.

He said the government was working to promote unanimity of views among different religious sects as well as other sections of the society on matters of national interests to serve the people of the country in a better way through social activities and charity.

Emphasising on the dire need of facilitating closer interaction among the religious leaders, Shafqat Mahmood said interfaith harmony could only be achieved through the promotion of tolerance and accommodation of each other belief. Forbearance and co-existence were vital to promote the principles of collective well-being, the minister added.

Addressing the ceremony, other speakers also called for promoting the country’s narrative ‘Hum Pakistani’ for restructuring the society and tackling the socio-economic challenges at hand. While discussing issues like violence, terrorism and extremism, the speakers said the country should stand united to combat intolerance and prejudices. They emphasised on the message of Paigam-e-Pakistan ‘Hum Pakistani,’ demanding to spread it all over the country for ensuring a better future.

The function was arranged by the University’s Centre for Social Reconstruction. It was largely attended by students and academicians of the local educational institutions. The event was also addressed by Council of Islamic Ideology Chairman Dr Qibla Ayaz, AJK Minister for Education Syed Muhammad Ali Raza Bukhari, Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab on Women affairs Ashifa Raiz, KPK Minister of education Zia-Ullah Khan Banghash, Gilgit and Baltistan Deputy Speaker Assembly Jaffarullah Khan and Vice-Chancellor Quaid-i-Azam University Prof Dr Muhammad Ali.
