Universities will remain open with 50 percent attendance on Monday

The Universities and Boards Department on Wednesday announced the reopening of universities and boards across the province from August 23.

“All public and private sector universities and degree awarding institutions under the administrative control of the Universities and Boards Department, Government of Sindh shall reopen from 23 August with half of the physical attendance on alternative days under the strict observance of Covid-19 SOPs issued by the Health Department”

The notification read; “No student or employee shall be allowed to attend classes, hostel and offices with Covid-19 vaccination card”. The head of the university or DAI should coordinate with the Health Department to establish a vaccination center exclusively for the employees and students of the universities and DAIs.

In a separate statement, the Provincial Minister for Universities and Boards Muhammad Ismail Rahoo has stated that the Sindh government has decided to reopen all the universities and boards that were closed due to the Covid-19 epidemic. All universities across Sindh will be operating as usual from Monday. However universities and DAIs will ensure strict implementation of Covid-19 SOPs and 50 percent attendance.

He said that universities, boards and vocational education training centers will open with 50% attendance and the staffers must be 100 percent vaccinated. The students, faculty members, and staffers should carry vaccination cards to their respective institutes so that they administrators could keep their records.
