The University of Okara has become the first Pakistani university, established after 2016, that has been recognized and ranked by the United Kingdom based world’s most credible ranking organization, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). In the newly released QS Asia University Ranking 2022, the UO has been placed at 601-650 position.

In his special message at this eve, the UO’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Muhammad Zakria Zakar, told that it was a matter of pride for the newly established institution to make this accomplishment despite many budgetary and infrastructural odds.
The VC acknowledged the efforts of the Director, Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), Dr Muhammad Arshad Kamran, in duly submitting and actively pursuing the UO’s case with the QS.

“Being recognized by the global ranking bodies like QS adds up to the prestige and profile of a university’s teachers and researchers, especially when they go for pursuing doctoral and post-doctoral degrees in foreign universities. Achieving this mark for a young university was an uphill task but Dr Kamran made it possible with his visionary approach”, said the VC.

Commenting on the QS’s ranking criteria, Dr Kamran said, “The QS evaluates universities on the basis of their academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ration, citations per faculty, international faculty ratio and international student ratio.”

He further told that the UO had come up to all the indicators successfully with the kind support of the faculty members and administration.
