UO kickstarts massive COVID vaccination awareness campaign

The University of Okara has initiated extensive awareness campaign regarding COVID-19 vaccination in district Okara and its vicinities. The decision to start this drive was taken in a meeting, chaired by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Muhammad Zakria Zakar. The Assistant Commission, Renala Khurd, Dr Rizwan Ashraf, the Deputy District Health Officer, Dr Ahsan, and faculty members from various departments attended the meeting.

A COVID SOPs Implementation Committee, comprising of 10 faculty members, was constituted to carry out the drastic measures to ensure cent percent vaccination for the students and staff of the university.

Addressing to the meeting, the VC directed the committee members to engage students and sensitize the people, through community outreach, in Okara and its nearby villages on getting themselves vaccinated. Moreover, the committee was directed to set up vaccination awareness camps in Renala Khurd and Okara.

The VC also announced to establish vaccination booths on all the entry points of the university so that the students, who have not yet been jabbed, could get vaccination shots with ease.

Dr Zakar also urged the committee to ensure that no student or employee of the university should have been left unvaccinated. He also announced stringent measures against those who were reluctant to get the vaccination.

According to the university spokesperson, there are about 18000 students and more than 300 employees at the UO. Among these, 99 percent of the staff has been vaccinated so far while this ratio among the students is more than 50 percent. The university administration is all set to take dire steps to bring the remaining students to the vaccination counters.
