The University of Education (UoE) Lahore inaugurated the third international conference, “Zoological Emerging Scientific Trends (ZEST 2024),” on Wednesday. The two-day event, running from October 16 to 17, has drawn participation from scholars across the globe, bringing together experts from nine countries including Turkey, Denmark, the United States, Poland, the UAE, Austria, Thailand, South Korea, and the UK.
In addition to 23 Pakistani scholars, researchers are participating both physically and virtually, with 1,400 attendees taking part in the conference. A total of 152 research papers are set to be presented, underscoring the importance of the event in promoting scientific dialogue and collaboration.
The conference was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Lahore, Prof Dr Akif Anwar Chaudhry, while Prof. Dr Muhammad Ali (S.I., T.I.), Vice-Chancellor of Punjab University, served as the chief guest. Prof Dr Abdul Majeed Cheema attended as the guest of honor, and Prof Dr Shagufta Andleeb, Chairperson of the Department of Zoology, welcomed participants and introduced the conference’s objectives.
In his opening remarks, Prof Dr Akif Anwar Chaudhry highlighted the significance of ZEST 2024 as a platform for sharing the latest research and innovations in zoology. “This conference provides scholars with a unique opportunity to exchange knowledge, fostering international collaboration and networking,” he remarked. He emphasized that such events play a crucial role in advancing scientific research and promoting internationalization in the field of zoology.
The chief guest, Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, called the present era the “age of life sciences,” noting the pivotal role of advancements in health sciences. He expressed confidence that ZEST 2024 would contribute meaningfully to the scientific community and congratulated UoE for successfully organizing the event.
The conference attracted a diverse audience, including faculty members, students, researchers, and professionals from various fields. In addition to research paper presentations, more than 10 poster presenters showcased their work, adding further value to the event.
ZEST 2024 promises to leave a lasting impact by fostering collaborations and inspiring new avenues of research in zoology.
