UoE Ignites Change on International Womens Day 2025 Event

The University of Education (UoE) Lahore, marked International Women’s Day 2025 with a series of thought-provoking and empowering events, organized by the Women’s Development Center. The celebrations included motivational activities aimed at honoring women’s achievements and advocating for gender equality and women’s rights. A key highlight of the event was the launch of the second issue of She Shines, the university’s first women’s magazine, which amplifies the voices, accomplishments, and aspirations of women.

The event was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Aqif Anwar Chaudhry, with Prof Dr Iram Anjum, Principal of Kinnaird College for Women (KCW) University, Lahore, serving as the chief guest. The program attracted several distinguished figures from various academic, legal, and professional backgrounds, including Prof Dr Samina Mazhar (Principal, University Bank Road Campus), Najma Rashid (Advocate, High Court of Pakistan), Dr Sara Rizvi Jafri (Department of Sociology, Forman Christian College, Lahore), Captain Qadir Sarfaraz (Pilot and CEO, Airmen Ground), Asma Akram (Medalist, South Asian Championship), Dr Sadaf Zahra Syed (MBBS, MCPS, FCPS, Ganga Ram Hospital, Lahore), and Sarah Ayub (Provincial Coordinator, National Forum of Women with Disabilities).

During his address, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Aqif Anwar Chaudhry highlighted the global significance of women’s rights and the importance of educating both men and women about gender equality. He underscored the university’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for women.

Chief guest Prof Dr Iram Anjum encouraged women to remain steadfast in their pursuit of success, emphasizing the importance of resilience in overcoming challenges. She also stressed the need for educational institutions to play a proactive role in empowering women.

A major feature of the program was a dynamic panel discussion on the theme “For All Women and Girls: Rights, Equality, Empowerment.” Experts from various fields shared their insights on the hurdles women face in different professions and proposed strategies to enhance gender inclusivity and support systems for women and girls.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr Muqaddas Butt, In-Charge of the University Women’s Development Center, who expressed her gratitude to the esteemed guests, speakers, and organizers for making the event a resounding success.

The University of Education, Lahore, once again demonstrated its commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment through this impactful and inspiring celebration of International Women’s Day.
