The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore arranged 1st UVAS Women Leadership Program in connection with Women Empowerment through Women Involvement in Learning and Leadership (WE-WILL) here at City Campus.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad presided over the inaugural session of the program while Dean Faculty of Biosciences Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman, Dean Faculty of Animal Production & Technology Prof Dr Saima, Chairperson Department of Anatomy and Histology Prof Dr Hafsa Zaneb, Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani and many other senior female faculty & administration staff members from different campuses of UVAS were present.
While addressing the inaugural ceremony, Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad said that female strength has been increasing rapidly in the faculty and administration of UVAS in the last two decades and they perform their duties with full dedication. He said that women are provided equal rights at UVAS and they are always encouraged to equally participate in university activities. He said the Government of Punjab developed seven consortiums and in which a woman empowerment consortium was also added. He acknowledged the role of Prof Dr Hafsa Zaneb for taking this initiative.
Earlier, Prof Dr Hafsa Zaneb spoke about the aim & objectives of this program. She said various issues/aspects related to leadership, governance, gender issues in academia, equity, sexual harassment, networking, career trajectories and financial management will be discuss and many well-known professors/experts from national and international institutions will be the resource person. She said participants will have an opportunity to learn from experiences of accomplished women leaders and advocates of women leadership from within and outside Pakistan.
A Renowned professor of Immunology Dr Muquarrab Ahmed Qureshi member of the US Senior Executive Service/Deputy Director of the Institute of Youth, Family and Community in United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) along with Former Pakistan Hockey Team Captain and Olympian Gold Medalist Prof Dr Tariq Aziz Khawaja and Former UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Nawaz visited the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore, called on Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad here on Thursday in City Campus.
Meanwhile a detailed meeting was held with senior faculty members of UVAS on the latest trends of teaching, problem oriented research methods and using modern technologies for enhancing the quality of teaching, research and extension.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad chaired meeting while Dr Muquarrab Ahmed Qureshi highlighted the history and objectives of extension training/outreach programme to address rural community issues by utilizing knowledge and skills. He talked on various aspects related to non-cognitive skills, hands-on training, foundation and applied science, sustainable act systems, technology transfer and relevance work related to community for their betterment etc. Dr Muquarrab acknowledged the role of UVAS for imparting latest knowledge and practical skills to students and its role for the betterment of livestock farming community especially in the flood affected areas of Pakistan to save their animals. He also shared his past experiences with participants of meetings and success stories.
