Virtual University Gets New Data Centre In Lahore

Virtual University of Pakistan has inaugurated its new Data Centre in Lahore. The inauguration ceremony was held at VUP head office and attended by Virtual University of Pakistan Rector Naeem Tariq, ICT Director Ehsen Zafar Puri, principal officers, deans, directors and staff of Virtual University.

Focal person of the data center, Deputy Network Executive Engr Syed Naushad briefed the attendants about the project, saying massive storage needs of the university were served through SAN and NAS deployment. This data center complies with security and threat advisories received from time to time from HEC and other government security agencies. The Data Center has been established indigenously, saving millions of rupees for the university.

ICT Director Ehsen Zafar Puri said that keeping in mind the imperative needs of technological advancement, Virtual University had launched a state-of-the-art data center. VUP has campuses all over Pakistan and all campuses are connected securely with the Data Center for voice, video and data communication.

Speaking on the occasion, the VUP rector congratulated networking department on timely completion of this project. He later awarded souvenirs were to all networking team members and the chief guest.
