Women Empowerment through Skills Development, Seminar at UE

University of Education (UE) Lahore, Toastmasters Club organized a seminar on “Women Empowerment through Skills Development Initiatives in Universities” which was chaired by Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha.

The guest speaker was Founder 101 CEO Incredible Women Pakistan, Ms Zeeshan Zia Raja, Director BIC, University of Punjab, Prof Dr Sania Malik. President UE Toastmasters Dr Humaira Irfan briefed the audience regarding the objective and mission of Toastmasters and this seminar.

While addressing the seminar, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha said that no society or country can be progressed without giving equal rights to the women because they are not less than men in terms of abilities, the only need is to provide them guidance and opportunities. He said that more than half of the total population of Pakistan consists of women but unfortunately women are still struggling and suffering from innumerable problems in our country.

According to various international reports, gender discrimination is a major cause of low economic growth in any country. Therefore, if we empower our women, a great positive change can be brought in the country, he added. The Vice-Chancellor said UE is taking concrete steps to empower women and recently established “Women Development Center” in university is a one proves of our efforts.

While addressing the seminar, the guest speaker Ms. Zeeshan Zia Raja said that the mission of the 101 Incredible Women CEO’s is to serve and support women to achieve entrepreneurial dreams and to seed opportunities for enterprise creation as we know that the development of a woman is not only the development of an individual but also of a society.

Prof Dr Sania Malik said the women of Pakistan have the potential to play their part in tackling the challenges of the day, we just provide them equal opportunities. At the end of the seminar, Director Division of Arts and Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Waheed Ur Rehman thanked all the participants including the guest speakers. A large number of students and faculty members along with Dr. Muqaddas Butt, Dr. Afaf Manzoor and Program Quality Director (Elect) District 1122, Distinguished Toastmasters Club (DTM) Atif Irfan were also present on the occasion.
