APSUP and COMSTECH Join Hands to Boost Academic Cooperation

The Chairman of the Association of Private Sector Universities of Pakistan (APSUP), Prof Dr Chaudhary Abdul Rehman, visited the COMSTECH Secretariat in Islamabad to discuss strengthening ongoing collaborative initiatives in higher education, research, and capacity building across OIC member states.

During the meeting with Prof Dr M Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of OIC-COMSTECH, both sides reviewed the progress of existing joint programs under the COMSTECH-APSUP partnership and identified new areas for cooperation aimed at promoting educational excellence and innovation.

Prof Dr Iqbal Choudhary appreciated the efforts of Prof Dr Abdul Rehman for his continued collaboration in implementing impactful initiatives such as leadership and character development programs for university administrators from OIC countries.

A major focus of the discussion was the ongoing support for Palestinian students seeking higher education opportunities in Pakistan. The two sides agreed to expand joint efforts toward the reconstruction and capacity building of Gaza in the fields of education, science, technology, and health.

Preparations for the upcoming 5th Rectors’ Conference, to be held at the COMSTECH Secretariat from December 3–5, 2025, were also reviewed. The event will feature the launch of the international training program “Leading with Character,” designed for Vice Chancellors from OIC nations.

In addition, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to translating key academic resources like Leading with Character into Arabic and French, enhancing accessibility for scholars across the Muslim world.

The meeting concluded with a shared vision to deepen collaboration in leadership development, research, and academic exchange, reinforcing the mission of fostering knowledge-driven growth among OIC member countries.
