In a significant push for regional development, Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz has announced the establishment of new higher education institutions in Mianwali, aiming to expand access to professional education for local students.
Addressing a public gathering, the Chief Minister revealed plans to set up medical, law, and agriculture colleges in the district. The initiative is expected to create new academic opportunities for students in southern Punjab, reducing the need to relocate to larger cities for higher studies.
In addition to the education sector, the Chief Minister introduced a major agricultural support initiative titled “Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar” (Our Field, Our Employment), which is set to be launched next week. Under the scheme, landless and low-income farmers will be allocated between three to five acres of land along with Kisan Cards to facilitate agricultural activities and improve livelihoods.
Highlighting ongoing efforts to strengthen the farming sector, Maryam Nawaz stated that more than 21,000 tractors have been distributed among farmers across Punjab over the past two years. She described these measures as part of a broader strategy to enhance agricultural productivity and support rural communities.
The Chief Minister also emphasized that development projects are being carried out across the province without discrimination, ensuring equitable access to resources and opportunities.
As part of immediate relief measures, she announced a Ramadan package that will provide financial assistance to nearly four million citizens, with each eligible beneficiary receiving Rs10,000.
