A certificate distribution ceremony marking the successful completion of a specialized technical training program for Sudanese engineers was held at the National University of Technology (NUTECH) Islamabad, under a joint initiative of COMSTECH and NUTECH.
The ceremony was graced by H.E. Salih Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Siddig, Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to Pakistan, as Chief Guest, while Prof Dr Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General COMSTECH, attended as Guest of Honour. Lt Gen (R) Moazzam Ejaz, HI(M), Rector NUTECH, along with senior officials, academicians, and representatives of partner institutions, were also present.
Certificates were awarded to around 20 Sudanese engineers who successfully completed the CAD/CAM/CNC Operations and Machine Building Course hosted at NUTECH. The program was sponsored and coordinated by COMSTECH as part of its mandate to enhance technical capacity and promote South-South cooperation among OIC member states.
Addressing the ceremony, Prof Dr Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary reaffirmed COMSTECH’s commitment to human resource development, applied research, and technology transfer across OIC countries. He noted that such initiatives aim to equip young professionals with industry-relevant skills while fostering long-term academic and technical collaboration among member states. Ambassador Aftab Ahmad Khokher, Assistant Secretary-General of the OIC for Science and Technology, also appreciated the COMSTECH–NUTECH collaboration, describing it as a vital contribution to capacity building, scientific cooperation, and professional skill enhancement within the OIC framework.
In his remarks, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Moazzam Ejaz emphasized NUTECH’s focus on hands-on, practice-oriented education aligned with contemporary industrial requirements. He reiterated the university’s commitment, in partnership with COMSTECH, to supporting international capacity-building initiatives and expressed confidence that the trained engineers would play a meaningful role in Sudan’s industrial development.
The intensive training program provided participants with practical exposure to modern manufacturing technologies, including computer-aided design, computer-aided manufacturing, CNC machine operations, and machine building techniques. The engineers also received hands-on training on advanced industrial equipment such as CNC wood routers, drilling and tapping machines, welding units, aluminium cutting machines, tool grinders, and shaper machines under the supervision of experienced NUTECH faculty and technical experts.
