Federal Minister for Education (MoFEPT) Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, called for collective efforts from all political parties to help the country overcome its ongoing crises.
Speaking at an event hosted by the College of International Skills Development (CISD) and the Pakistan Education Endowment Fund (PEEF), Siddiqui praised the role of skill-based education in shaping Pakistan’s youth. The ceremony highlighted student projects that demonstrated creativity and innovation across various fields.
The minister noted that the Fund is offering scholarships for skill-based education on a “need-cum-talent” basis and that these programs cover a wide range of fields, including beautician training, tourism, IT, fashion design, and digital media production.
“We will soon introduce Middle and Matric Tech programs in schools,” Siddiqui announced, emphasizing that Pakistan’s youth population, which exceeds 180 million, requires urgent policies for empowerment.
He underscored the importance of equipping young people with modern skills alongside formal education to enhance employment opportunities. “With proper resource allocation, we can ensure meaningful employment for our youth,” he added.
Siddiqui also touched on reforms in religious seminaries, noting that the 26th Constitutional Amendment included recommendations from JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Addressing political matters, he remarked that the future of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is in the hands of its leadership, while stressing the need for political unity to tackle the country’s current challenges.
