Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced an extension of the application deadline for the provincial Honhaar Merit-Based Scholarship Program, giving flood-affected students more time to apply. The new deadline for submissions is now October 26, 2025.
The decision comes in response to the severe disruption caused by recent floods, which left thousands of students struggling to continue their education. The move aims to ensure that talented students are not forced to abandon their academic goals due to financial challenges.
The Honhaar Program, administered by the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC), will award around 30,000 full-tuition scholarships to undergraduate students enrolled in public sector universities and colleges. With eligibility criteria focused on Punjab domicile holders, household income limits, and strong academic performance in intermediate exams, the program seeks to support deserving students while easing the financial burden on families.
Applications must be submitted through the PHEC Honhaar Scholarship Portal, requiring registration with CNIC, mobile number, and email, along with the upload of academic and financial documents. The PHEC has advised students to apply well before the deadline to avoid technical difficulties and ensure smooth verification of their records.
