Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) organized a high-level Capacity Building Workshop at its New Auditorium under the collaborative project Excellence in Higher Education, featuring Prof Dr Rahat Munir from Macquarie University, Australia.
Prof Dr Rahat Munir, a distinguished expert in forensic accounting and financial integrity and Head of the Department of Accounting and Corporate Governance at Macquarie Business School, led the session. He also holds leadership roles with CAFF Schools in Australia and New Zealand and serves on the Education Board of Chartered Accountants ANZ, overseeing the implementation of international education standards worldwide.
The workshop focused on strengthening quality assurance, accreditation, and university rankings; preparing students for future jobs shaped by artificial intelligence and technology; and enhancing teaching quality, academic programs, and student services.
The event was attended by prominent education leaders, including Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan, Chairperson of the Punjab Higher Education Commission; Ghulam Farid, Secretary of the Higher Education Department; Zahida Azher, Additional Secretary HED; Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, Vice Chancellor of the University of the Punjab; and Prof D. Muhammad Omer Chaudhary, Vice Chancellor of GC University Lahore.
FJWU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Bushra Mirza welcomed the distinguished guests and highlighted the evolving role of universities. She stated that the responsibility of higher education institutions extends beyond knowledge dissemination, emphasizing the need to prepare graduates for future jobs that may not yet exist. She reaffirmed FJWU’s commitment to aligning academic programs with international standards while fostering innovation, creativity, and critical thinking.
The guests praised FJWU’s initiative, underscoring that such collaborations are crucial for raising academic standards, boosting research, and integrating Pakistan’s higher education institutions into the global academic landscape.
