A significant milestone in the region’s educational landscape was marked today as the Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) officially inaugurated its newly constructed Chiniot Campus in a grand ceremony attended by key government and academic dignitaries.
The inauguration was led by Mr Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Mr Qaiser Ahmad Sheikh, Federal Minister for Investment Board, and Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. They were joined by Prof Dr Rauf-I-Azam, Vice Chancellor of GCUF, in officially opening the state-of-the-art campus.
A large gathering of parliamentarians, district officials, university faculty, and students witnessed the historic event, signaling a new chapter in accessible higher education for the region.
In his welcome address, Dr Falak Sher, Campus Director, presented a detailed report on the campus’s infrastructure and available academic facilities, highlighting the university’s commitment to excellence.
Mr. Ahsan Iqbal, while addressing the attendees, emphasized the role of education in national progress, stating, “In today’s knowledge-driven world, aligning our youth with global standards of education and innovation is vital. The Chiniot Campus will serve as a bridge between academia and local industry, spurring economic growth and innovation in the region.”
Mr Qaiser Ahmad Sheikh expressed gratitude to the government for its investment in educational development, noting that the new campus reflects the commitment to uplift remote areas through learning. “By providing quality education in underdeveloped areas like Chiniot, we are investing in the dreams and potential of our youth,” he said.
Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman HEC, highlighted the significance of research and technology in transforming Pakistan’s economy. He encouraged students to pursue excellence in science, business, and innovation, aiming to compete on a global scale.
Prof Dr Rauf-I-Azam, Vice Chancellor of GCUF, thanked the federal ministers and HEC for their unwavering support. “This campus is not just a building — it is a beacon of opportunity for the talented youth of Chiniot, removing barriers to higher education and igniting hope for future generations,” he said.
The GCUF Chiniot Campus has already launched eight BS degree programs, including five in Social Sciences and Business and three in Allied Health Sciences, providing diverse academic avenues for aspiring students in the region.
