Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) marked a historic milestone as it welcomed an eight-member high-level delegation of Vice Chancellors, Rectors, and senior faculty members from leading universities of Gaza, Palestine.
The delegation’s visit, organized under the auspices of COMSTECH—the OIC Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation—aimed to strengthen academic and research collaboration between Pakistan and Palestine. The COMSTECH Coordinator, Mr. Muhammad Murtaza Noor, accompanied the delegation from Islamabad.
Upon arrival at GCUF’s New Campus, the Palestinian delegation was received with great warmth by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam, along with faculty members, administrative officers, and students. The visit focused on post-war academic rehabilitation in Gaza, educational reforms, and the promotion of scientific research and innovation through sustainable institutional linkages between the two nations. The delegation was given a detailed briefing on GCUF’s academic programs, research facilities, international partnerships, and its recent progress in global university rankings. The visitors expressed deep appreciation for GCUF’s academic achievements and commitment to research excellence.
Highlighting the university’s support for Palestinian students, Prof Dr Rauf-i-Azam announced that GCUF has already launched dedicated scholarships to help Palestinian students pursue their education despite ongoing challenges. He further affirmed that additional scholarship opportunities will be introduced to continue supporting Palestinian youth.
Both sides explored future prospects for joint academic and research projects, especially in Information Technology, Medicine, Biological Sciences, Social Sciences, and Natural Sciences. The discussions concluded with a shared commitment to enhance faculty exchanges, joint publications, and collaborative initiatives in higher education.
