GCUF Hosts Seminar on Breast Cancer Prevention

Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) organized a breast cancer awareness seminar under the theme “Early Detection is the Best Prevention”, reinforcing the importance of women’s health and proactive screening. The event, held under the Faculty of Medical Sciences in collaboration with the Directorate of Students’ Affairs, aimed to promote early diagnosis and public awareness as key tools in combating the disease.

Addressing the seminar, GCUF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Rauf-i-Azam stressed that breast cancer is not an incurable disease and that thousands of lives can be saved through timely detection and treatment. He highlighted that positive social attitudes and proactive health behaviors are vital to improving public health outcomes.

Vice Chancellor Faisalabad Medical University (FMU), Prof Dr Zafar Ali Choudhry, delivered an insightful lecture emphasizing the urgent need for awareness and early medical consultation. He noted that lack of awareness remains one of the major reasons for the high incidence of breast cancer in Pakistan. Aliya Shaima and Dr Tahir also addressed the audience, reinforcing the importance of collective efforts in awareness promotion.

Prof Dr Abid Rasheed, In-charge Dean, shared GCUF’s ongoing initiatives to promote breast cancer prevention, including awareness sessions, screening programs, and community outreach activities.

Chief Organizer Dr Sabira Sultana, Assistant Professor, along with Dr Amna Altaf, explained that the seminar and awareness walk were aimed at educating women about the importance of early detection and encouraging them to adopt regular screening practices to reduce the risks associated with breast cancer.
