Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) has signed landmark Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with four leading Bangladeshi universities, taking a significant step towards strengthening regional academic cooperation. The institutions include Daffodil International University, North South University, University of Asia Pacific (UAP), and International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC).
The formal signing took place on June 18, 2025, during the OIC-COMSTECH Special Vice Chancellors Meeting for Bangladesh, held at COMSTECH headquarters in Islamabad. The ceremony was chaired by Prof Dr M. Iqbal Choudhary, Director General COMSTECH, and attended by His Excellency Mr Iqbal Hussain Khan, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Pakistan.
Representing GCUF, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Rauf-i-Azam expressed the university’s commitment to turning these agreements into actionable partnerships. He announced initiatives including student and faculty exchange programs, joint research projects, scholarships, and postdoctoral placements with the Bangladeshi partner universities.
Mr Muhammad Murtaza Noor, Focal Person and Coordinator at COMSTECH, also participated in the event, reiterating COMSTECH’s support for meaningful academic ties among member countries.
The Directorate of International Linkages at GCUF, led by Prof Dr Muhammad Riaz and Dr Muhammad Tahir ul Qamar, was instrumental in bringing these agreements to fruition. Their efforts reflect GCUF’s strategic vision to broaden its global academic and research footprint.
