HEC Unveils Next-Gen Digital Education Platform

In a landmark step toward digital transformation, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has launched the “Pakistan Digital Leap” initiative, revolutionizing the country’s higher education landscape. At the center of this transformation is TallyMarks Consulting (TMC), which will digitize 25 universities through its Maktab ERP-SLCS and Al-Fihri Learning Management System (LMS).

Funded under HEC’s Higher Education Development Program (HEDP) in partnership with the World Bank, the initiative is set to benefit over 6 million students across Pakistan. The launch event brought together vice-chancellors, corporate executives, and educational stakeholders, marking a significant step toward the integration of advanced digital infrastructure in academia.

HEC Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmad made history by appearing as a holographic host—Pakistan’s first—symbolizing the futuristic vision driving the project. He emphasized the importance of global competitiveness, operational efficiency, and reduced costs enabled by this digital transformation.

Abdul Haseeb, CEO and Managing Director of TMC, described the project as a “giant leap” for Pakistan’s educational future. He highlighted the effectiveness of homegrown digital solutions, which aim to deliver accessible and secure education at scale.

TMC’s technology suite includes the Maktab ERP-SLCS for streamlined academic and administrative processes and the Al-Fihri LMS, a cloud-based platform offering AI-driven assessments, flexible learning plans, and secure access via HEC’s Astrolabes datacenters and Jidar Network Security.

Named after Fatima Al-Fihri, founder of the world’s oldest university, the LMS merges heritage with innovation, reinforcing Pakistan’s commitment to modernizing its education system while honoring its intellectual roots.
