ICCBS Marks Independence Day with Call for Scientific Progress

Renowned scientist and former Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Prof Dr Atta-ur-Rahman, has emphasized that only sincere and honest leadership can ensure Pakistan’s growth and development. Speaking at an Independence Day ceremony held at the Prof Salimuzzaman Siddiqui Auditorium of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, he said that Pakistan was achieved after immense sacrifices and it is now the duty of young scientists to lead the country towards progress through excellence in science and research.

Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman warned that without significant advancement in education and science, the nation would struggle to achieve its true objectives of development. He urged the youth to dedicate themselves to academic and scientific pursuits, stressing that national progress is closely linked to breakthroughs in these areas.

ICCBS Director, Prof Dr Muhammad Raza Shah, also addressed the gathering and said that the future of Pakistan depends on scientific and educational advancement. He noted that the real strength of a nation lies in its achievements in science and technology. Referring to recent conflicts in the region, including those between Pakistan and India as well as Iran and Israel, he highlighted how these events underline the global importance of scientific and technological progress.

The event, organized by ICCBS, was attended by a large number of faculty members, staff, and students. Earlier, Prof Atta-ur-Rahman and Prof Raza Shah, along with participants, hoisted the national flag and cut the Independence Day cake. The ceremony also featured speeches, poetry, and patriotic songs in tribute to Pakistan’s founders and the sacrifices of those who struggled for independence.
