Industry Meets Academia at GCWUF to Drive Innovation

Government College Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF), under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Kanwal Ameen (T.I.), has launched the Community Champions Committee in a landmark step to unite academia and industry for workforce development, innovation, and research excellence.

The committee brings together representatives from the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, business leaders, entrepreneurs, educationists, environmentalists, and health professionals to strengthen collaboration and address pressing challenges in bridging the academic-industry divide.

Chaired by the Vice Chancellor, the inaugural session welcomed participants from FCCI, FWCCI, PHMA, FPCCI, Gaba Heart Centre, Green Circle Pakistan, Agri-Tourism, University of Agriculture Faisalabad, Bajwa Auto, AZ Apparel, and other organizations. Members highlighted critical issues such as weak institutional linkages, limited industry trust, the inexperience of interns, and communication gaps that hinder employability.

Prof Dr Kanwal Ameen emphasized GCWUF’s proactive approach, including the Syndicate-approved “Professors of Practice” program to integrate industry expertise into classrooms, and a compulsory course on personality development to polish students’ professionalism and communication skills. She reaffirmed the university’s commitment to Human Resource Development as a central academic priority.

The Vice Chancellor also invited industry leaders to collaborate with GCWUF’s Hi-Tech Lab, Diagnostic Lab, Business Incubation Centre, and Fashion & Textile Design Department to foster innovation and market-driven research.
