In a major move to modernize education and prepare students for a rapidly evolving digital world, the federal government has made it mandatory for private schools and colleges in Islamabad to enroll students from Class 9 onward in digital safety and artificial intelligence courses.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT), aims to equip young learners with essential knowledge of modern artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. The policy reflects a growing recognition of the importance of digital skills in both academic and professional environments.
According to a directive issued by the ICT Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority, all eligible students in the Islamabad Capital Territory are required to activate their training accounts on the official government skills portal by March 8, 2026. This step is considered critical to ensuring timely participation in the program.
While the deadline for enrollment and account activation is immediate, authorities have provided flexibility regarding course completion. Students will be allowed to complete the required modules during their summer vacations or after their final examinations, a move intended to avoid disruption to ongoing academic activities.
School administrations have been directed to expedite the registration process and ensure full compliance with the new policy. Officials emphasize that the initiative is part of a broader national effort to enhance digital literacy, strengthen cybersecurity awareness, and prepare Pakistan’s youth to compete in an increasingly technology-driven global economy.
