In a significant step toward strengthening international academic partnerships, the University of Kamalia (UKM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a high-level educational delegation from the Republic of Korea. The agreement aims to foster collaboration in joint research, faculty and student exchange programmes, academic and technical cooperation, and the promotion of cultural linkages between the two countries.
The visit of the Korean delegation was designed to build long-term and sustainable institutional partnerships. It was facilitated with the support of the Punjab Information Technology Board under the guidance of Provincial Minister for Education Rana Sikandar Hayat, reflecting the broader vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif to enhance the quality and global competitiveness of education in the province.
Upon arrival, the delegation received a warm and traditional welcome from the university’s Vice Chancellor, senior officials, and faculty members. A formal meeting followed, where both sides held detailed discussions on expanding academic cooperation. Key areas included joint research initiatives, student and faculty mobility, digital learning, the integration of modern technologies in education, and the promotion of Korean language and culture.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Yasir Nawab described the agreement as a milestone for the institution, emphasizing that it would open new avenues for students and faculty to engage with international research environments. He noted that the exchange of innovative teaching methodologies and advanced technologies would significantly enhance academic standards at the university.
He further highlighted that despite its relatively short history, the University of Kamalia has made rapid progress in education and research, with international collaboration remaining a central strategic priority.
During their visit, the Korean delegation toured various academic and research departments, expressing strong interest in the university’s facilities, laboratories, and ongoing development projects. A tree-plantation ceremony was also held, symbolizing mutual friendship, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development.
