Amid an ongoing cold wave affecting Karachi and several surrounding areas, private schools in Sindh have formally recommended maintaining a 9:00 am opening time until January 31 to ease difficulties faced by students and families.
The All Sindh Private Schools and Colleges Association announced the recommendation, citing disruptions to daily routines caused by unusually cold weather, particularly in remote districts of the province. The association stated that early morning travel has become increasingly challenging, raising concerns over student health and safety.
The association’s chairman has called for an urgent meeting of the Private Schools Steering Committee to review the situation and consider necessary adjustments to the academic calendar if weather conditions persist. He has also appealed directly to the Sindh education minister to grant official approval for the delayed start time, stressing that a uniform policy would help schools implement the change smoothly.
In addition to the weather-related request, the chairman highlighted growing concerns over academic planning. He urged education authorities to immediately release final examination syllabi and paper patterns, warning that delays could adversely affect exam preparation. With the academic year nearing its conclusion and limited time remaining before examinations, uncertainty over course outlines is creating pressure for both schools and students.
