In a significant step toward bridging the gap between academic research and industrial application, a team of scholars from the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, visited the production and testing units of Dalda Foods Limited.
Initiated by ICCBS Director Prof Dr Muhammad Raza Shah, the visit was designed to expose postgraduate researchers to real-world industrial processes, enhancing their academic understanding through practical experience. The delegation included MPhil and PhD students from the Dr Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research and the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry, and was coordinated by Dr Hina Siddiqui, Dr Maria Aqeel Khan, and Ms Amreen.
Dalda Foods experts provided detailed briefings on various aspects of their operations, including safety compliance, oil refining techniques, quality assurance practices, and laboratory testing protocols. The scholars participated in interactive discussions with department heads and toured the facility to observe production workflows and ongoing research.
The ICCBS spokesperson highlighted that the visit served as an enriching experience for the students, allowing them to contextualize their academic pursuits within industry frameworks. Participants praised Dalda’s openness and the depth of information shared during the visit.
