The University of Sargodha (UoS) commemorated International Labor Day with a compelling art exhibition that spotlighted the resilience, struggles, and contributions of workers across the nation. The exhibition, hosted by the Institute of Art and Design, featured over 180 student-created pieces, including 70 photographs, 100 posters, and 7 short videos.
Inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Qaisar Abbas, the event drew widespread attention from faculty, students, and art enthusiasts. Dr Abbas lauded the students for using their creative talents to engage with real-world issues. “This exhibition not only showcases creativity but also reflects a deep understanding of societal realities,” he remarked.
Maryam Saif, Director of the Institute, emphasized the importance of such events in bridging art and activism. “It is encouraging to see art being used as a medium to raise awareness and inspire empathy,” she said, praising the students’ efforts to reflect labor struggles through visual storytelling.
The curators of the exhibition, faculty members Naveed Sharif and Ahsan Jameel, were also present, along with a large number of students. The exhibition served as a vibrant reminder of the power of art in fostering social consciousness and honoring the role of laborers in national development.
