The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) celebrated the graduation of over 1,400 students during its Class of 2025 convocation held over July 12 and 13. The two-day event honored the academic achievements and resilience of students from across its five schools, marking a significant milestone in their academic and personal journeys.
Families, friends, and faculty gathered on campus to witness the conferment of degrees and celebrate the next chapter for the graduates. The ceremonies were attended by key figures from the University’s leadership including Pro Chancellor Abdul Razak Dawood, Vice Chancellor Dr Ali Cheema, the Board of Trustees, Deans, and senior faculty members.
Vice Chancellor Dr Ali Cheema addressed the graduating class with a powerful message of resilience and growth. “If this year has taught us anything, it is that we must build the capacity to live with uncertainty and grow stronger through it. Let the winds of uncertainty fuel your fire, not extinguish your spirit,” he remarked, as he welcomed the students into the global LUMS alumni community.
Valedictorians Aizaz Arif and Jovera Shakeel delivered heartfelt speeches reflecting on their time at LUMS. They recounted pivotal experiences, expressed deep appreciation for their peers and faculty, and highlighted the profound impact of a LUMS education on their personal and academic development.
The convocation also featured keynote speeches from two renowned figures. Acclaimed novelist Kamila Shamsie urged graduates to pursue what they love and underscored the importance of recognizing adversity early and seeking support. Her speech emphasized self-belief, independence, and the often-unspoken struggles women face.
Chairman of Systems Limited, Mr Aezaz Hussain, inspired the graduates with a message centered on passion and purpose. “Follow your passion, find what energizes you… and pursue it,” he advised. “Because when you do that, you will never run out of motivation.”
