Murree Braces for Cloudburst Threat as Rains Paralyze Life

Murree authorities have announced the closure of all educational institutions for two days due to severe rainfall disrupting life across the region. The District Education Authority confirmed that schools will remain closed on Tuesday, August 19, and Wednesday, August 20, as a safety measure.

Continuous downpours have caused rivers and canals to overflow, inundating key areas such as Kahuta GPO Chowk and Mall Road. In Galiyat, heavy landslides have blocked the Murree-Abbottabad Highway, severing a vital transport route and stranding commuters.

Meteorological officials have also warned of a potential cloudburst, leading the local administration to issue emergency alerts. The Deputy Commissioner of Murree has urged residents and tourists to stay away from waterways and remain cautious, as more heavy rain is forecast over the next 24 to 48 hours.
