The Pakistan Africa Economic Council (PAEC) Federal Chapter held its Oath-Taking Ceremony of newly elected office bearers at the COMSTECH Secretariat, reaffirming its commitment to advancing economic, trade, and educational cooperation between Pakistan and African countries. The event drew diplomats, vice chancellors of leading universities, eminent professionals, and foreign guests, particularly from Africa, underscoring the growing momentum of Pakistan–Africa engagement.
Mr Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Commerce, attended as Chief Guest and congratulated the office bearers, describing the ceremony as a renewed pledge to integrity, collaboration, and economic diplomacy. He highlighted PAEC’s role as a strategic bridge between Pakistan and African economies, aligned with the government’s vision of export-led growth, market diversification, and South–South cooperation. Emphasizing Africa’s strong trade potential, he called for expanded collaboration in trade, investment, and education.
Proceedings began with a recitation from the Holy Quran and the National Anthem. Welcome remarks were delivered by Dr Abdul Basit, Senior Vice President PAEC Islamabad Region, followed by addresses from Dr Shahbaz Ali Malik, Founder Chairman PAEC, and Mr Shaikh Rashid Alam, Secretary General PAEC, who outlined the council’s vision and roadmap to further strengthen Pakistan–Africa relations.
A key highlight of the ceremony was the announcement of new initiatives to deepen bilateral engagement. PAEC unveiled 100 scholarships and 100 internships for African nationals in Pakistan to promote education, skills development, and people-to-people linkages. Additional measures include facilitation of visa access, improved payment mechanisms for businesses, and practical support for trade and investment cooperation. The leadership also announced a 30 percent discount for African citizens at the Rawal Institute of Health Sciences and the Ujala Centre of Excellence.

The Chief Guest administered the oath of office to the newly elected Federal Chapter office bearers, followed by the distribution of souvenirs. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr Abdul Wajid, President PAEC Federal Chapter, who expressed gratitude to dignitaries, diplomats, and participants. The ceremony was conducted by Mr Muhammad Murtaza Noor, Secretary General PAEC Islamabad Chapter, who formally closed the proceedings and reaffirmed PAEC’s resolve to strengthen Pakistan–Africa cooperation through sustained partnerships.
