Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Canada, Muhammad Saleem, has held high-level discussions with senior leadership of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) to strengthen bilateral cooperation in healthcare education and professional development.
During his visit to the RCPSC headquarters, High Commissioner Saleem met with Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer Craig Ceppetelli. The meeting focused on expanding collaboration in postgraduate medical education, specialist training programs, and accreditation frameworks aimed at enhancing healthcare capacity in Pakistan.
Both sides discussed the potential for establishing institutional linkages between the RCPSC and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan. These linkages would facilitate the exchange of expertise, support faculty development, and promote alignment of professional standards to meet evolving global healthcare needs.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of internationally recognized accreditation systems and structured specialist training pathways in improving the quality of healthcare services. The RCPSC leadership expressed interest in exploring practical avenues for cooperation that could contribute to capacity building and skills enhancement in Pakistan’s medical sector.
High Commissioner Saleem further briefed the RCPSC delegation on Pakistan’s upcoming International Medical Education Conference, scheduled to take place in Karachi in February 2026. He extended a formal invitation to Canadian medical institutions, educators, and experts to participate in the conference and share best practices in medical education and training.
