PEIRA Sets Annual Window for Private School Renewals

The Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) has established a standardized annual calendar for the registration and renewal of private schools and colleges within the Islamabad Capital Territory.

According to the newly approved schedule, the renewal process for existing institutions will now follow a fixed timeline. All private educational institutions must submit their renewal applications between March 1 and April 30 each year. PEIRA will complete the processing of these applications by June 30, with any necessary inspections being carried out in May and June.

For new institutions seeking initial registration, applications can be submitted year-round. However, formal approval for new registrations will only be issued up to April 30 annually.

In a significant update, PEIRA has also introduced an optional three-year registration renewal cycle, extending from the previous two-year term. This option is contingent upon the advance payment of renewal fees for the entire period and full compliance with the regulatory standards outlined in the 2024 rules.

The authority stated these reforms are designed to align the regulatory schedule with stakeholder needs, improve administrative efficiency, and prevent losses in regulatory fees. These measures have been enacted under the powers vested by the Islamabad Capital Territory Private Educational Institutions (Registration and Regulation) Act, 2013.
