In a major step to advance education and technology in Balochistan, the federal government has significantly increased the number of laptops for students and youth in the province. The announcement was made by Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program (PMYP), during the inauguration of Artificial Intelligence and Cybercrime courses at Chagai DHA in Quetta on Wednesday.
Khan revealed that, under the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Balochistan’s laptop quota has been raised by 80%, from 10,000 to 18,000 units. He said the move reflects the government’s unwavering commitment to empowering the younger generation through access to modern education and essential digital skills.
“The federation is dedicated to playing a vital role in the skill development of Balochistan’s youth,” Khan stated, adding that the PM Youth Program will continue to expand its projects throughout the province.
He further highlighted that the government’s efforts are not limited to technology alone. In the agricultural sector, many young individuals from Balochistan have already benefited from startup loans, an initiative aimed at transforming Pakistan’s youth from “job seekers to job creators.”

Discussing the government’s broader strategic vision, Khan pointed to the recently developed National Artificial Intelligence Policy as a cornerstone for future innovation. He also announced that Prime Minister Sharif has increased ‘Newtech’ funds to strengthen employment opportunities abroad, particularly in the Middle East, Europe, Korea, Canada, and the United States. The initiative aims to double Pakistan’s foreign exchange earnings within the next three years by boosting youth placement in international markets.
