Punjab Allows Flexible Uniforms in Colleges for Winter

In a welcome move for students amid the ongoing cold wave, the Directorate of Public Instruction for Colleges (DPIC) in Punjab has announced a temporary relaxation in uniform regulations to ensure student comfort and well-being during the severe winter weather.

According to an official notification, college students across the province are now permitted to wear winter clothing including sweaters, coats, jackets, caps, and socks in any color. The decision comes as temperatures continue to drop sharply, making strict adherence to standard uniform requirements increasingly difficult for students.

Education officials said the measure is aimed at safeguarding students’ health and reducing discomfort during daily travel and classroom activities in extreme cold conditions. By allowing flexibility in winter attire, the department hopes to create a more supportive learning environment during the harsh weather spell.

The relaxed uniform policy will remain in force until February 28, after which normal uniform regulations are expected to be reinstated, subject to weather conditions. Students and parents have welcomed the decision, describing it as a timely and practical step during an unusually cold winter season.
