Punjab Launches AI Curriculum for Students

Punjab has taken a significant step toward modernizing education as the Punjab Education, Curriculum, Training and Assessment Authority (PECTAA) unveiled a comprehensive artificial intelligence curriculum aimed at equipping students with essential digital skills from an early age.

The initiative, aligned with the vision and timeline set by Maryam Nawaz, reflects the provincial government’s commitment to preparing the next generation for a technology-driven world. Officials believe the move will strengthen students’ ability to compete in an increasingly digital global economy.

According to an official statement, PECTAA Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Musa Ali Bokhari presented the first draft of the curriculum to the provincial education minister and the parliamentary secretary for review and feedback.

The proposed curriculum spans a wide spectrum of subjects, beginning with foundational computing concepts and advancing to specialized areas such as data science, machine learning, robotics, and ethical artificial intelligence. It has been carefully structured to match students’ cognitive development at different stages, allowing them to progress from basic digital literacy to innovation and real-world problem-solving.

Authorities emphasized that the curriculum has been designed in line with international standards while remaining tailored to local educational needs. Alongside technical knowledge, it places strong focus on ethics, governance, creativity, and responsible digital citizenship, ensuring students not only learn how to use technology but also understand its broader societal impact.
