Pakistan’s first government-operated autism center, the Maryam Nawaz School and Resource Centre for Autism, has officially begun admissions, marking a milestone in the country’s efforts toward inclusive education. Established under the Punjab Special Education Department, the center represents a significant step toward expanding public access to specialized learning facilities for children with autism.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, officials announced that the school will offer structured education through three age-based divisions. The Early Childhood Education section will serve children aged 3 to 5, the Junior Section will accommodate those between 6 and 12, and the Senior Section will support learners aged 13 to 16. Each division is designed to provide tailored learning experiences based on developmental needs.
Parents wishing to enroll their children can apply online through the Special Education Department’s portal at autism.punjab.gov.pk. The registration window will remain open until December 10, 2025.
