In a groundbreaking step to strengthen higher education quality, the Punjab government has approved the establishment of the province’s first official university ranking system. The initiative aims to evaluate over 60 public and private universities across Punjab to identify the top ten institutions based on comprehensive performance and quality indicators.
According to official sources, the framework for the ranking system will be developed at an estimated cost of Rs 50 million. The planning phase (PC-1) has been completed, and the proposal is currently moving through the initial approval stages.
The ranking system will be an annual exercise, updated each year to reflect the latest institutional performance data. The results will not only inform students and the public about the quality of higher education institutions but also guide government policy and funding decisions.
