Chinese universities have again dominated the QS BRICS University Rankings 2019 released by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) earlier this week. Started in 2013, the QS BRICS ranking ranks the top educational and research institutes in BRICS nations – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
Tsinghua University was ranked the top university in the five-nation bloc, with Chinese universities taking seven of the top ten spots. The only other entries in the top 10 were Lomonosov Moscow State University, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) and Indian Institute of Science.

Fudan University
Fudan is one of the most respectable institutes of China and is widely popular among undergraduate students, both national and international. The university was established in 1905 and has since been working for the promotion of Confucian philosophy through their academic and research aspirations. Fudan accommodates 45,000+ national students, with over 17 schools and 69 academic departments. Fudan obtained a score of 81.8 percent for its academic reputation in the QS BRICS rankings. Fudan ranks on the 44th position in the QS global world rankings for the year 2019.

Nanjing University
Nanjing University works under the Chinese Ministry of education and was established in 1902, as Sanjiang Normal School. The school later evolved into Nanjing University in the year 1950. Nanjing was named the 122nd best university in the QS global rankings. It scored 87.8 points for citations per faculty, 58.5 for academic reputation and 75.3 for international faculty, making it grab the ninth spot on the list.
Indian Institute of Science
IISC was established through a collaboration of Government of India, the Maharaja of Mysore and Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata in the year 1909. It is one of the premier educational institutes of the world and is known for high quality academics and research work, particularly in the fields of science and technology. IISC secured highest marks in citations per faculty category in the QS BRICS rankings this year.
