Sahiwal University Hosts Launch of Faculty Training Program

In a transformative push to upgrade the landscape of higher education in Pakistan, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Sahiwal, Prof Dr Javaid Akhtar, officially inaugurated the National Outreach Plan for Higher Education Faculty. The 4-week intensive program, a collaborative effort between the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and its National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), is set to run until May 29 and aims to modernize teaching practices across universities.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Prof Dr Akhtar emphasized the urgency of equipping faculty with innovative tools and contemporary knowledge. “In today’s fast-paced academic environment, it is crucial that our educators are not only well-informed but also agile in their teaching approach to prepare students for the evolving challenges of tomorrow,” he noted.

The launch event drew an impressive audience, including keynote speaker Dr Salma Nazar Khan and top academic officials such as Registrar Syed Ghulam Ali Asghar and department heads from various disciplines. The program was seamlessly hosted by Dr Muhammad Ayyoub, the Training Coordinator, who acknowledged the contributions of all stakeholders in making the initiative a reality.

Designed to empower faculty with modern pedagogical techniques, the outreach initiative reflects HEC’s broader commitment to academic excellence and capacity building in higher education. By fostering collaboration and skill enhancement, the program aspires to create a ripple effect of quality education throughout the country.

This milestone marks a pivotal moment in the national academic agenda, signaling a renewed focus on the professional development of educators as the cornerstone of a progressive, knowledge-based society.
